4 years ago today

Four years ago today we were discharged from Children's Hospital Boston and ready to come home. Here is our post:

We are coming home!!
We have weight gain!!!! Yeah Hannah! She is now up to 6 pounds 2.3 ounces. Not bad considering she is only 20 days old, has been through open heart surgery and was born at only 5 pounds 15.6 ounces! Way to go Hannah!
We are being discharged from the hospital today and are coming home tomorrow!!! We will be staying at the Devon Nicole House tonight and flying out early tomorrow morning!
Thanks for all of your prayers. God is listening. Please don’t stop. Hannah will need all the prayers she can get. Thanks for all of your support!

What a Miracle!

Hannah Skates

Hannah was given a pair of princess skates for her birthday. Here is the video of her first attempt at roller skating. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Unfortunately she drives her Barbie Jeep just as badly as she skates. It's a good thing she is pretty!!! :-)

I must say I was proud of her. She stood back up and continued to try to skate! She was equipped with elbow pad and knee pads. I know seems rediculous just for skates, but for those of you who know Hannah, you know she could use full body pads just to walk sometimes. She's very clumsy. Anyway, I told her next time we'd put a pillow in her pants to add some cushion to her little booty! She agreed.

We made it down the driveway and back up without any broken bones and without major drama! That in itself is a miracle for Hannah is full of drama! Where or where does she get that???

Hannah's Dance Recital

Hannah had her first Dance Recital Sunday at the PMAC. It was great! She did very well as did her daddy.

The first dance was the Daddy Daughter Dance to "Who's Your Daddy". It was absolutely precious! Both, Hannah & Jason, did very well. We have it on video and will try to upload it.

The second dance was the Ballet dance to "Gavin's Song" by Marc Broussard. It is a great song and the dance was pretty. Hannah went on stage without her daddy or mommy and didn't cry!! Woo Hoo Hannah!

Here is the slideshow of pictures. Hope you enjoy, we did!

9th Anniversary

Our 9th anniversary was on Wednesday the 13th. It's hard to believe we've been married that long! What a great 9 years we have had. I feel so blessed to have Jason, Hannah and Carter in my life. I couldn't ask for anything more than the love from my three favorite people!

In fact, Jason loves me so much we did this to my car the morning of our anniversary...

I wanted to SMOTHER him with hugs as I was so embarrassed to drive this and had no time to clean it before work. Instead of "smothering" him, I decided to "kill" him with kindness when I sent him these to work.

He had to walk a very long way back to his car with 9 mylar balloons (one for each yer). It was a funny day!

We had dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe. I have to say it was one of the best meals I have ever had and there were no practical jokes there!

Happy Anniversary Jason! I love you!

4 years ago today

Here is another update from 4 years ago.

Monday, May 9, 2005
Hello Everyone. I know you are anxiously awaiting news. Here it is!

Hannah's chest has been closed! YEAH HANNAH! Dr Meyers did this around 3:00 EST. We just visited with her and she looks GREAT! She did well during the procedure. Later this evening, they will start decreasing her sedation and begin weaning her from the ventilator. As long as she continues to get rid of the fluid, they may remove the chest tubes as early as tomorrow or Wednesday. They will also begin feeding her through a nasogastric tube (tube that enters the nose and goes into her stomach) in the next couple of days. She is progressing very well! She's a tough little girl, not to mention beautiful. Of course we are biased!

We will continue to update you as new information arises. Until then keep up your prayers. God is definitely listening!

Hannah is definitely a FIGHTING TIGER! Today is a great day!

We arrived at her bedside this morning to find her chest tubes removed!! She is also more awake and responsive to our touch. You should see some of her facial expressions. That pouty lip is too cute! She is doing so well. They are slowly weaning her from her sedation and the ventilator. They may even remove her from the ventilator by tomorrow or Thursday. They are also going to start feeding her through that NG Tube we wrote about yesterday.

Keep up your prayers. They are working!!

Ya'll leave my baby alone about her hair! You know how I like my hair big and wild. Did you think I'd keep Hannah's flat?! Right now she is wearing a hat...an LSU hat!

Hannah is still doing very well. She is not off of the ventilator yet. They are very hopeful that it will be tomorrow. For any nurses, her CO2 and HCO3 are up. They want that to be normal before removing her from the vent. She continues to wake up at times opening her big blue eyes and making facial expressions. It is the sweetest thing.

Tomorrow, given that she comes off of the vent, we will have updated pictures in her new outfits and LSU hat! I promise to update the site ASAP! Once we are able to hold her, who knows how often we will get to the computer. I only plan to put her down when I have to go to the restroom. As a Surgery nurse, I have learned to hold it for a very long time!! Ha! I have a feeling Jason and I will be passing her from one to the other.

She's come a long way in 4 years! Thanks be to God!
