It's A ....

BOY!

Carter Joseph Englert entered our world on Friday, January 30th at 8:30 am. He weighed 7 lbs 2.9 oz and was 19.75 inches long. He has a head full of black hair and of course has his mommy's nose, but daddy's lips.

He is doing well and so are mom, dad, and big sister Hannah. She really loves him and it is so sweet to see her want to touch and hold him. Although she would have preferred a girl, Hannah is accepting her little brother rather well.

It is so hard to belive we have a new addition and that he is a boy! All those pink clothes in his closet will have to go! And lots of shopping will be done!!

Hannah's Radio/Video Debuts for 2009

Hannah has already been involved some exciting events this year. Our little celebrity was on the CMN radiothon on 100.7 and 98.1. She spoke on 100.7 and was comical...as usual. She informed the audience that she received a Pink Puppy and a Pink Remote for Christmas (and what about that TV?????). She also informed them that her favorite colors was...PINK. She then told them her favorite song was Ice Ice Baby, to which the DJ's laughed out loud. However, when it came time to sing some of the lyrics she froze.

It was a great way to share our story; however, 5 minutes isn't enough time to begin to explain her history. So we kept it basic and stressed the importance of OLOL's Children's Hospital. By the way, Children's Boston is also a CMN hospital.

Last Friday, we went to the Governor's Mansion for photo shots with First Lady of Louisiana Supriya Jindal. The pictures are of Mrs. Jindal with about 25 heart kids and will be part of a TV announcement about Congenital Heart Defects and the PCA doctors and the tennis tournament and will begin airing in February on WAFB. I'll let you know when to expect to see it.




At the mansion was Hannah's friend Harrison. He is doing so well and is as handsome as he can be. Here the sweethearts are:

It is hard to believe that Baby E will be here in less than 3 days. I am so anxious to know if it is a boy or girl. Hannah still insists that it is a "guh" she just can't pronounce the "l". Anyway, of all the names we've narrowed it down to, she only like Lauryn. I guess we'll figure it out on Friday. By the way, we have narrowed it down and added one more name in the running. Each has at least one Biblical reference, which is what I really wanted. Here they are:

It's King Cake Time

We baked our first King Cake on Sunday. It had praline filling and was pretty good. We'll have to do it again! Here are a few photos of Hannah helping in the process.

Help...we need a girl's name!

No we still don't know what we are having. We have a boy's name, but not a girl's name. Which means it will probably be a girl; especially since his/her room is more suitable for a boy anyway. Oh well! Poor kid, already getting the shaft!

For a boy we like Carter Joseph. It's the same name we chose when pregnant for Hannah. So that hasn't, and won't, change.

For a girl, we have it narrowed down to 9 names. Yes, it was just narrowed down to 9 tonight. It's a good thing this kid isn't showing any signs of wanting to arrive early. However, with 15 days to go, we'd better narrow it down somemore. Feedback is appreciated!

I had my OB appt today and no change down below. I have a feeling next Friday I'll be wishing that we had NOT pushed back the date 1 more week. Oh well, there is still a chance of going into labor before. I was just hoping to see some changes by now. Especially since I had been feeling these Braxton Hicks contractions since Christmas Eve.

We believe Hannah is getting more excited. Jason installed the infant carrier bases into our cars yesterday. Today she brought a baby and placed her inside the carrier so the baby could ride next to her in the car. I went on and on about how she'll get to see "her" baby when in the car and that "her" baby would be so close to her, and so on. It was really sweet to see her. This weekend we will be getting the rest of the gear down. My living room will soon be consumed with a bouncer, swing, pack-n-play, jumper, etc. It's exciting! It's hard to believe it has been almost 4 years since we did this with Hannah. Will I remember how to care for a newborn???

Ready for Baby E#2

You may have noticed the number change in the Baby Ticker. We met with Dr. Feigley last Wednesday and signed consents and talked more about the delivery. Beginning the Tuesday before Christmas I began feeling things that I had never felt with Hannah.

For Hannah, I never had once indication of labor, even after being induced. I never dropped and therefore never dilated and never felt any contractions. The cervical ripening medicine never worked and that is why we chose a c-section for her. We didn't want to waste anymore time in Boston in the hopes of going into labor and our family was already up there. A C-section was the most logical thing. So one day later, Hannah was born.

With that said, I figured we would just schedule a c-section with Baby E#2 and the same would happen for him/her. That is until I began feeling differently. I've been told that I look like I have "dropped" and I have to agree. I've also began feeling what I assume are Braxton Hicks contractions since Christmas Eve. This made me think, well maybe just maybe this baby will want to come on his/her own. I'm sure for those of you who have gone into labor, you are thinking "what is she thinking". But I never go the chance to feel that and I want to. I had taken the lamaze classes and know that I could do it if given a chance. Don't get me wrong, I am all for a c-section if I don't go into labor. It was rather easy with Hannah and I imagine would be this time too.

So anyway, I measured a week behind than what I am (He measured me at 34 weeks and I was 35 weeks). I guess this means we have another little squirt. Hannah was only 5 lbs 15.6 oz and 18.5 inches long. Why not give him/her one more week to grow and me one more week to go into labor naturally. Dr. Feigley is fine with this option too. If I have not gone into labor by Friday, January 30th we will have a scheduled c-section. I don't want to be induced on that day. If I hadn't done it on my own, a c-section it will be. However, should I begin having contractions before, Baby E#2 will be here in his/her own time. Can you believe it? I am trying to NOT have as much control. Those of you that really know me, know that I am a bit of a control freak!

With that said, we needed to get ready for Baby. With Christmas decorations everywhere, it was hard to get Baby's room ready. As he/she will be in what was our office/catch all LSU Room. This weekend Christmas decorations were put away and Baby gear was taken down from the attic. On Saturday, while Jason and Hannah slept in (til 9:00...don't get used to that!) I put the crib together and got Baby's room ready. When Hannah woke up she was too exctied to let HER baby have some of her toys, pillow and blanket. It was really sweet until she dropped one of her baby's out of the crib. I then became concerned! :-)

I DO Like Green Eggs and Ham...

After ready Green Eggs and Ham on Friday, Jason decided to make Hannah Green Eggs and Ham Saturday. At first Hannah would not, could not eat green eggs and ham. But finally Jason convinced her to take a bite. She said "I do like Green Eggs and Ham".

Happy New Year!

We had a great time watching LSU win in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve. It was great to see them dominate throughout the entire game. It gives us hope for the 2009/2010 season.

We had family and friends over to watch the game and a fireworks show to follow.

We hope you all had a great New Year's Eve too!

2009 will be a great year for our family as we await the arrival of Baby E#2. I am anxious to know...girl or boy!
