4 years ago today

Hannah had her first (The Modified Norwood Sano Shunt) of three open heart surgeries 4 years ago today. She was a mere 2 days old as Dr. John Mayer began repairing her tiny little heart. We think back to these days four years ago and are amazed at how well Hannah is doing. She has been through some very difficult days, and to look at her now, you would never know! Isn't God wonderful! He truely is an AWESOME God!

I will post a picture from that first surgery; however, it is very graphic. Very few have seen pictures of Hannah at her most vulnerable state. I had a hard time sharing that with people as I felt it violated her. Since becoming involved with the LPCF, I have learned that these pictures help people to understand the severity of her situation just as showing a child undergoing chemo and losing his/her hair shows the severity of childhood cancer. Please view the picture with caution and you may want to grab a tissue.

Hannah is out of surgery and doing well and is currently in the ICU. She has about twelve lines/tubes and is on a ventilator. Everyone has been able to visit with her. Everything has gone as expected. Please continue praying for her and I will update pictures later.

Carter is 3 Months!

Here is a delayed update on Carter.

He turned 3 months old on April 30th. He weighs 13 lbs 3 ounces, which is a gain of 6 pounds since birth! That puts him in the 50th percentile! He is 24.5 inches long, which is a gain of 4 3/4 inches since birth. He is in the 75th percentile in length. It is hard to get used to someone who is actually on the growth chart!!

Carter rolled over for the first time at his doctor's appt. He did it twice. Since we've been home, he hasn't done it at all! Dr. Flechas asked if he was rolling over and I said not yet. He then did it twice, as if to prove me wrong! But isn't that what kids do?! Carter is also smiling and laughing a LOT too, as you've seen on the previous video. He's just so cute and so laid back. He just goes with the flow, which has been very nice these past 3 months! We are on the go alot and he just goes with it!

Our lives will be settling down soon now that the LPCF Tennis Tourney, the AHA Heart Walk, and Hannah's party are behind us. We are now anxiously awaiting our anual family beach trip in about 5 1/2 weeks! We are so excited to stay at the new Phoenix West as it has a lazy river and water slide the kids will enjoy...and perhaps the adults too!

Hannah is Four Today

Here are the carepage posts from four years ago!

Hannah is here. She is beautiful, like her mom. 5 lbs, 15.6oz, 18.5 inches long, born at 11:39 am EST. Mom is doing well. Both of us got to hold our little angel before she was taken to the NICU. She was cleaned up, IV started, etc... and was doing well enough that the grandparents were able to go into the NICU and hold Hannah as well. On the way to Children's, we stopped off and got to see mommy one more time and she got to hold her again. We arrived at Children's CICU (cardiac ICU) and about 7 or 8 doctors came by to see her. (She likes attention like her dad.) They are doing some tests, scans, X-rays...They think surgery could be as early as Friday, but could also be next week. We may have a better idea later. Thanks for the support and prayers and responses. It is great to stay in touch. I will try to have pictures posted later today on this site or the other Babyenglert site.

Second Post

Hello to all. This by far has been the best day of my life. I'm a Daddy. Hannah is doing well. Getting lots of attention in the CICU. Mom is resting in the hospital. I'm back at the Devon Nicole House and believe it or not, I'm doing laundry. Not too complicated though, Denyse said I didn't have to take her clothes out before putting them in the dryer - it's OK for them to shrink a little since she will start shrinking too. Anyways, it has been fun and therapeutic to hear from everyone. I just finished reading 27 pages of messages. We will get more information tomorrow and pass it along with some new pictures as well. I'm off to bed.

Happy 4th Birthday Princess Hannah!

We had a great time at Hannah's party today. The weather was cool and the friends were great! Hannah had a Princess & Pirate party. She had a great time and I think the other princesses and pirates did too.

We relive this time every year, as I am sure most parents do. 4 years ago today we were discharged from the hospital because the induction wasn't progressing. We opted to return on the 4th for a c-section. Tonight we had dinner at Cheers on Beacon Street with our family. Tomorrow we will be admitted for the birth of our baby! Oh Happy Day!

It's a....................c-section. Tomorrow at 10:30 EST. We came back to the Devon-Nicole House to stay the night. Back to the hospital in the am. We will update the page ASAP, but the section will take an hour or so, then they do baby stuff, and then move the baby to the 6th floor NICU for about an hour before transferring Baby to Children's Hospital. We will let you know. We don't like to make anything easy. Thanks for staying with us.

Carter Laughing Video

This video is hysterical. Jason was getting in his car and there was a frog that got in. I told Jason that I would have to miss work if that happend to me. I don't do any live things in my car except me and the kids! At that time I was changing Carter and so goes the video. (You needed an explanation as to why I was saying "Mommy doesn't do frogs" Hope you enjoy!
